The venue for round nine of the inaugural A1 Grand Prix series has one of the most spectacular backdrops of any circuits on the international motorsport scene. Sure, there are impressive mountains surrounding the city of Monterrey in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, but it's the disused steelworks around which it threads that dominates the skyline.

The 2005-06 A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Mexico was a A1 Grand Prix race, held on the weekend of February 26, 2006 at the Fundidora Park Circuit.

Fundidora Park is a public park located east Monterrey, Mexico, inside the former Monterrey Foundry real estate.

The Monterrey Foundry (Monterrey Steel Foundry Company) operated from 1900 until its bankruptcy in 1986. 2 years later, after having been legally declared financially insolvent, the "Fideicomiso Fundidora" (Fundidora Escrow) was installed to administrate the Park.
